University of Northwestern's 98.5 KTIS radio network needed a streaming app that extended their brand experience while maintaining rock solid functionality.
The 98.5 KTIS radio network had a mobile streaming experience that relied on an out-of-the-box software design. While the app provided basic functionality, University of Northwestern needed to develop their own streaming solution to fully extend the brand's experience to the streaming platform.
After a deep dive into the existing app's features and functionality, we collaborated with the client to conceptualize advanced features and an upgraded customer experience for the app. The process led to a checklist of new features to develop, wireframes for the app and a new, KTIS-branded design that extended from the brand's website.
A completely customized KTIS streaming app launched in the Apple Store and Google Play Store during the summer of 2019. The new app went beyond existing features to display information like artist background, song lyrics, music videos and recently played songs, and incorporated Apple Car Play and Android Auto functionality. Crucially, the app integrated blog content from the KTIS CMS, allowing for streamlined content management. The end result gives listeners a seamless brand experience from website to app, enabling University of Northwestern to engage with their audience in a whole new way.
