In 2018, Tre Jones was the #1 high school point guard in the country. When it came time to announce the university where he would continue his basketball career, he wanted to do it in style. Would he follow his brother, NBA player, Tyus Jones (Minnesota Timberwolves), and pick Duke University? Or would he blaze a path of his own? We tapped into the frenzy around this highly anticipated announcement to create an emotive story with an ending only Tre and his inner circle knew.
In an age where commitment videos have become exaggerated productions laced with special effects, we set out to create an attention-grabbing video that was as authentic and humble as Tre. The challenge? We only had two weeks to do it.
We used Tre's actual life story as the video's inspiration. We drew from his unswerving dedication to friends, family and mentors; the hard work he put in day after day on the court and his unwillingness to be anything less than spectacular to create an emotive story that ended in a boyhood dream coming true. With our tight timeline, we concepted, shot and edited the entire video in two weeks.
The video was released at a private event for friends and family with every major local and national sports platform in attendance (Star Tribune, CBS Sports, Rivals, ESPN). Since its release, Tre's commitment video has amassed over 500,000 total views on YouTube and Twitter, with over 1.5 Million impressions, and 180,000+ total twitter engagements. The 2 Instagram teaser videos have amassed over 100,000 views. The video has made its way onto USA Today, ESPN, Bleacher Report, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, and more.
